Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that is used to treat skin concerns via collagen production. Also known as collagen induction therapy, this treatment may help those looking to reduce dead skin, rejuvenate skin etc.
How Derma pen work
The Derma pen is an automated micro-needling device with a disposable tip cartridge that is made up of 12 micro needles, which uses proprietary technology to penetrate vertically into the skin. The stamping action of the Dermapen’s vertical tip creates invisible micro-injuries to the skin, while stimulating the skin’s natural ability to heal itself and increase the production of new collagen. In doing so, these micro-injuries encourage and harness the body’s innate ability to regrow and repair the skin through normal physiological processes and the skin becomes rejuvenated and refreshed.
Medical Derma Pen
Dermapen is much safer and more effective in piercing the skin than traditional skin micro needling Rollers, because of its unique vertical micro needling technology. It has a superior effect on collagen and elastin rejuvenation. Active ingredients are directly supplied to the deeper layers of the skin.
Dermapen’s multi-speed and adjustable needle depths allows the needles to pierce the skin’s layers at 90 degrees and increases the effectiveness of treatments by increasing the absorption of products. On the other hand, it reduces pain and patient downtime.
Dermapen can effectively treat hard-to-reach places (e.g. around the eyes, nose, and lips). Because of the vertical delivery, the needles can easily penetrate scar tissue.
Dermapen promotes scar-less healing and natural collagen reproduction, similar to fractional laser treatments, IPL, laser resurfacing, and chemical peels, but without the side effects and downtime.
The mechanism of injury is a natural process, which makes Dermapen a holistic approach to skin therapy. Four major phases of physiological wound response help in stimulating new healthy tissue growth. First, an inflammatory response (1-3 days), to the initial injury promotes the chemotaxis response and proliferation of fibroblasts. The body’s platelets also respond to initiate a wound matrix. This response is the early phase of cell migration to remove debris and bacteria and stimulate the next proliferative phase. During the second phase (3-5 days), the new fibroblasts, monocytes, keratinocytes of the first phase continue to proliferate and multiply. New collagen will be laid down and deposited with new tissue formation. Next a fibrotic response (5-20 days), of growth factors are released and fibroblasts release collagen. Finally, the maturation stage of new healthy skin takes place from day 28 to two years after treatment. Collagens mature and stiffen and the matrix of new tissue shows 80% to full tensile strength.
The Dermapen uses 12 micro sized 33 gauge micro needles to stimulate the dermis faster than a manual dermal roller, resulting in shorter treatment times. With an adjustable needle ( depth/length ) , the Dermapen™ needles vertically pierce the skin to enhance rejuvenation results, maintain epidermal integrity and reduce patient down time. Dermapen™ is an electronically powered micro needling device and uses a singular spring-loaded micro needle tip to puncture small holes at a rate of 1000/second.
Can I reuse the tips?
The Dermapen sterile micro needle tips are designed to be disposable and are for a single-use only to prevent cross-contamination and infection. The micro-needle tips cannot be properly decontaminated due to the materials used in the construction of the micro needle tip cartridge itself. We strongly recommend against re-using micro needle tip cartridges, as patient safety is of paramount importance. The Dermapen’s design permits the user to change the needle tip cartridge after each treatment, at a very low consumable cost, with each Dermapen treatment. A low consumable cost, combined with little to no downtime for the patient, makes Dermapen an ideal solution for any medical spa or clinic.
